I am Gene Coffey. I have been making art since childhood. I have been working professionally as an artist since my first art job in high school doing illustrations to accompany op-ed newspaper articles in the Plano Star Courier. I attended School of Visual Arts in NYC for 1 year. Then I dropped out because new york in the mid 90’s demanded that I not waste anymore time on schooling and insisted I get into lots of trouble and madness and barely escape jail or death. I have made art consistently through my life wether for hire or personal. Rich(i wish) or poor(too often). Up. Down. Always. I exhibited in a couple solo shows and many group shows, a selection of which are on the Stuff page here. I began tattooing 20 years ago and developed a recognizable and unique style of work that has been celebrated worldwide in print, online and in video. It eventually became known as watercolor or graphic style of tattooing.
My fine art work has taken many different directions through the years. I am currently focusing on the 2 main series that are featured on this website. I am open to tattooing almost anything and anyone but really shine when I work in my own style.
